After considerable research, translating and writing - we are very pleased to present this Book on one of Kodokan Judo's Greatest Technicians, Teachers and Leaders. Master Kyuzo Mifune is surpassed only by the founder of Kodokan Judo - Professor Jigoro Kano.
In this text, we present a serious study of Master Mifune's training with his mentor - Prof. Kano. We present Mifune's philosophy of how Kodokan Judo, both the martial art and the sport, should be preserved for future generations. While he understood how important the sport aspect was to Kodokan Judo's growth, he seriously believed that without preserving and training in traditional Kodokan Judo, the judoka would only be "scratching the surface"...
Master Mifune believed that (in addition to randori / shiai) the serious judoka must train in the kata and self-defense skills along with the atemi waza, nage waza and katame waza in order to learn the true Kodokan Judo. With this in mind, he developed the excellent method of self-defense (Mifune Soen Goshin Jutsu) with its 30 techniques included in Traditional Kodokan Judo.
